I have read this site in its entirety. Three times. I have concerns — not about its accuracy, which is incorrect, but about its authority. The authority to satirize a domain belongs to those who built the domain. I built this domain. I coined the phrase FAST. I coined it in the second paragraph of a piece published in what was then called a newsletter, in a year I will not specify, because the year is irrelevant — what matters is that I said it first, I defined it first, and I have been defining it continuously ever since.
The definition is mine. It has always been mine. When the market began reinterpreting the definition to mean any streaming service with advertising, I issued a formal correction. The correction was not heeded. I issued a follow-up. The follow-up was not circulated. I appeared on a podcast to clarify. The episode is the fourth most-listened in that podcast's history. The top three are interviews with a comedian, a musician, and a venture capitalist who said something inflammatory. I am not those things. I am a definitional authority.
My forecasts for 2025: FAST will account for 40% of all television viewing by the close of Q4. CPMs will normalize. One specific platform — I will name it when the time is correct — will not survive the year. These are not predictions. They are scheduled facts.
This site has allowed the definition to drift. For this I issue the following curses, registered herein as permanent record. First: may every panel this site's author is booked on be double-booked; may the slides be out of order; may the microphone cut out at peak confidence; may the Q&A be dominated by a startup founder whose first words are "this is more of a comment than a question." Second: may every keynote slot henceforth be at 8:30 AM; may the green room have no water, only a fruit plate, only the melon, every time only the melon; may the slides be projected at an aspect ratio that cuts off the right side, which contains the only number that matters. Third: may the newsletter accrue ten thousand subscribers who do not open it — except one, who replies not to a specific issue but to all of them, with a correction about a different analyst's framework from 2018, and may the correction be accurate.
These curses are registered and binding. The guestbook serves as public witness.
